“When you want to succeed as bad as you want to breathe, then you’ll be successful” – Eric Thomas

There are only a few days left in the month of January. Just think about that and let it sink in as you scurry along your busy day. How did you spend the first three weeks of this new year? Did you set time aside to reflect, plan and set yourself up for success?

If you didn’t, it’s not too late to start today. While most people are already giving up on their New Year’s Resolutions, right now is the best time to plan for a successful 2017. With these 7 easy ways, you’ll be sure to reach your goals and finish this year with great success.

1. Develop Your Business Plan

A business plan is an essential road map for your success. This living document outlines the route you plan to take, and how you plan to get there.

Evaluate your old business plan and identify your strengths and weaknesses. What worked for you and what didn’t? Develop a clear, specific and attainable plan for this year and make a decision to stick with it.

2. Write Down Your Goals

By physically writing down your goals, you have a higher success rate of actually achieving them. Write down the top 10 goals you want to achieve this year and place them somewhere you can see them every day.

Create a vision with your goals and make it attainable. Set yourself up for success by making sure your goals are SMART; Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant and Timely.

3. Become a Master of Your Time

Time management and time blocking are critical for your success. With so many things pulling at you and wanting your attention, it’s important to plan your schedule and time wisely.

Set aside designated time at the beginning of each day to strategically plan your time. Remember, consistency and discipline are the key to any successful time management system, so make a plan, stick to the plan, and plan to succeed.

4. Read, Develop and Educate Yourself

Identify where you need improvement in your connecting, maven and sales skills. Once you know which areas need the growth, set time aside each week to improve.

Read books, absorb everything you can, and connect with others in order to improve. Scripting and role playing with other affiliates is a good way to sharpen your skills.

5. Adapt to the Changing Market

Re-Identify and Re-understand your market. Because interests and expectations change over time, investigate the newest trends in the areas you service.

Re-evaluate what your clients want and what they are willing to do to get it. Be sure to adjust your marketing strategy to these preferences and adapt your focus.

6. Consider a Coach, Mentor or an Accountability Partner

A mentor is someone you have a long term relationship with, who imparts wisdom, shares knowledge, and provides guidance for someone less experienced. If you don’t already have one, consider connecting with one.

Having access to someone with a lifetime of experience and judgment can help you grow exponentially in many directions, and help your career move upward and forward.

7. Keep it Simple

Remember, you are in control of your life. Don’t over complicate things. If you want to have a successful year, simplify and streamline everything you possibly can.

Don’t take on the world all at once and don’t stress over things you have no control over. If you encounter a roadblock – find a way around it. Word hard, exercise discipline in your plan and the results will come.
